Not certifiedKosher Style, Not Kosher Certified
Popular Israeli spots in South Florida that people ask Bubbie about. None of them are kosher certified.
NONE of these places are kosher certified. If you keep kosher, Bubbie loves you, and these are not for you. They're kept out of our
certified directory on purpose. We only say "uses kosher meat" when the restaurant itself says so. Research only; Bubbie has not visited.
Motek (Aventura, Boca, Brickell, Coral Gables, Downtown, Miami Beach, Midtown, South Pointe)
NOT kosher certified Research, not visited- Status
- Not kosher certified. Motek's site says it uses Glatt kosher meat but serves dairy, has no separate kitchen, and is open on Shabbat (https://motek.com/about/).
- On the menu
- all-day Israeli brunch, schnitzel, falafel and lamb shawarma sandwiches, kebabs, baby lambchops, Moroccan fish.
Bubbie's Take (not visited): Sunshine-yellow walls, Tel Aviv brunch, and a location every time you blink. Delicious, popular, and not kosher. Bubbie is telling you so you don't tell Bubbie later.
What Bubbie would order: the lamb shawarma sandwich, with a side of guilt.
Yalla Motek, Aventura Mall food hall
NOT kosher certified Research, not visited- Status
- Confusing, so treat as not certified. Motek's page says Kosher Culture supervises it Sunday morning to Friday before sundown only, and the same page calls it kosher-style and not under rabbinical supervision (https://motek.com/yalla/). Ask on site.
- On the menu
- shawarma, bowls, sandwiches, salads.
Bubbie's Take (not visited): Kosher on Tuesday, mall rules on Saturday. Ask the counter before you eat, bubbeleh.
Cafe Landwer, Boca Raton and Hallandale Beach
NOT kosher certified Research, not visited- Status
- Not kosher certified (no agency found). OpenTable lists "kosher" as a feature for Boca, but that isn't a hechsher.
- On the menu
- an Israeli cafe chain that started in Berlin in 1919, moved to Tel Aviv, and came back in 2004. Shakshuka, hummus, falafel, pasta, and the Rosalach with a Nutella drink.5 (213), Hallandale 4.8 (77).
Bubbie's Take (not visited): A coffee house that fled Berlin and made it to Tel Aviv. Bubbie respects the story. Not kosher, but a good story.
What Bubbie would order: shakshuka.
Abbalé Modern Mediterranean Kitchen, Aventura and South Beach
NOT kosher certified Research, not visited- Status
- Not kosher certified. The menu says "KOSHER STYLE" and includes dairy like halloumi and labneh next to prime steak.
- On the menu
- chef Samuel Gorenstein's modern Israeli: Salatim Tower, prime steak shashlik, lamb kefta, whole branzino, sesame challah. Seed-oil free. 18% service charge.
Bubbie's Take (not visited): A tower of salads. Finally, a restaurant that understands Bubbie's Friday night table. Not kosher, so look, don't eat.
What Bubbie would order: the Salatim Tower.
